If you want to make a statement, whether it is small or large, add some green thinking to your wedding. The USA Weekend newspaper insert on April 4-6, 2008 had several ideas to help make this happen.
A daytime wedding saves on electricity and lighting. How about printing your invitations on recycled paper or maybe even an e-mail invitation and a wedding website? Wedding attire – think used, eco friendly fabrics and even possibly rentals – especially for the guys.
Our favorite ideas were for the favors. Make them useful, like a small jar of honey or make a donation instead of giving favors. Be sure your guests know what they donated to.
Some resources they suggest and quote in the article include:
Emily Anderson, author of Eco-Chic Weddings (www.ecochicweddings.com)
Wedding websites at www.MyWedding.com
Wedding dresses at www.PreownedWeddingDresses.com
Charity favors at www.worldwildlife.org/weddings
No need to do everything, but you might want to take one or two ideas and incorporate them into your ceremony. You can give your day to remember – a hint of green. Notyak!
