Best Buy Disposes of Electronics

In June Best Buy announced a test program to help consumers properly dispose of electronics like TV’s and computers. When dumped directly in the trash, these items contaminate the landfill with hazardous materials.

Since this is a test, not all stores will participate. If you are lucky enough to live in Northern California, Minneapolis, Baltimore, or parts of North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Virginia or Washington D.C. and can find a participating store, you can bring in up to two gadgets per day for free.

If a Best Buy test store is not an option, check with your local landfill. Our area has recyclers that specialize in taking electronics often for free and sometimes for a very small charge. Your grandchildren will be glad you made the effort.
